Shelley Barber digs deep into the rural life on her farm, all while handling settlements and planning her next family adventure! She’s been working in Settlements for 20 years and prides herself on learning new things within the industry and tackling any challenge that comes her way (sometimes alongside a jumbo flat white with four shots of espresso!). She began working in settlements with her Aunt during the school holidays and found her passion within the business, and now she has a plethora of experience within the industry.
Within her career, Shelley has amassed a great deal of experience, witnessed developments across the industry, and has gone above and beyond for clients. Her working days are often more peaceful than her non-working days, when she focuses on her family and her farm.
Sharing her set-up for success, she has also mastered the art of problem-solving early on. The path to succeeding in her role as Director and Licensed Conveyancer stems from her simple blueprint: “getting yourself in a work routine of managing a portfolio of understanding what is urgent and what can wait”. Prioritisation is a key aspect of her role, as is client experience. Shelley is dedicated to ensuring her clients get the very best experience at Prestige by building great relationships over the phone rather than simply via email.
She shares, “I love nurturing and comforting clients who are struggling in life situations; it brings me joy to bring peace to people.”
Shelley further highlights the importance of taking each file as its own story: “Moving home is one of the most stressful experiences people go through, so ensuring her clients have a calm, relatable, and reliable settlement agent can make a world of difference.”
Inspiration and success manifest in different forms within Shelley’s life, through family, friends, and supporting other businesses or communities that ambitious individuals enjoy. One of the goals that Shelley is working towards is more of a harmonious balance in her life; one where she can make more time for family to enjoy various activities outside of work, while carving out dedicated time to develop her businesses.
“Success looks different for everyone, and for me, it’s about creating a life that combines hard work, meaningful relationships, and experiences that make you feel fulfilled.”
Outside of the office, Shelley finds joy in her family, her farm, and self-care. She is in the process of buying a horse and will be pursuing horse riding, perfectly encapsulating her value and love for farm life. Her energy, determination, and positive outlook on life, much like her daughter, Chanel Foster, help her stay grounded and fulfilled.
